Welcome to the ISPD Website!
  | | Dr. Steve Kuhn | 2008 is going to be another fantastic year, and the board members of the Illinois Society of Pediatric Dentists are busy organizing events and coming up with some innovative ideas to better serve our membership and improve communication.
We continue to compile email addresses to be able to contact members of our society and open up new doors for information exchange. I would hope to be able to be accessible to our members in order to dispense minutes from meetings and information about upcoming events. In addition, by organizing our membership, we can quickly disseminate information amongst our members and profession, as well as be able to answer or direct questions as they arise.
The ISPD will be returning to its’ format of a Spring and a Fall membership meeting. The membership meeting for Spring 2008 will be held on April 23 at the Marriott Hotel on Ashland and Congress, where it has been held in the recent past years. It will be a morning meeting with breakfast and lunch provided, and will cover the topic of surgical and orthodontic treatment and timing of congenitally missing teeth. Over the past few years we have encouraged our members to attend the AAPD symposiums that have been held in November, as it was difficult to compete with having too many CE courses, and the AAPD topics were timely. This October, we will have a membership meeting in a similar format to the Spring membership meeting, however, we are investigating different venues for the meeting, and a different day of the week in which to have it, to encourage additional participation.
Members of the ISPD are encouraged to reach out to other Pediatric Dentists that may not be active members of the society and inform them of the upcoming events and the opportunity to communicate with other members of our society. In addition, members are urged to contact our General dental colleagues that have an interest in increasing their depth of knowledge of pediatric dentistry to become associate members of our organization. Changes are being made to the ISPD By-laws to become aligned with the AAPD By-laws that will allow General dentists to become associate members.
Your questions, comments, ideas and participation are always welcome and encouraged by your current ISPD board of directors. Have a great 2008!
Steve
